John Hawes Commercial Property Solicitor
John specialises in property, particularly commercial leasehold property, including agricultural buildings, but also in residential property, and in Wills, tax saving, powers of attorney and probate. In property matters he acts for both landlords and tenants. He also accepts instructions in boundary and party wall disputes.
John was educated at Westminster School and, after passing through the Royal Naval College at Dartmouth, spent a period as an officer in the Royal Navy before being admitted as a solicitor in 1972, and was a partner in a West End of London firm before moving to the country. He opened his own practice in 1983 and has been in Cirencester since then. He acted for some years as the representative for the Cirencester Legal Association on the Gloucestershire & Wiltshire Law Society and as chairman of the Association.
With an extensive background during his long, wide and varied experience John offers a unique perspective enabling him to bring a broad approach to legal problems. He offers a personal service, exercising his skill and judgement, outside the normal frame. His great forte is communicating with clients and telling them what is going on, by automatically sending them copies of all relevant letters and documents. He asks his clients to ring him immediately if they have a problem and to come and see him to sort it out.
He prefers to communicate by email, or by fax or telephone, with letters going by post only when necessary, as when original documents have to be sent. He prides himself in his speed of reaction as he appreciates that his clients expect a rapid service.
He is pleased to see clients in the office and is equally happy to deal at a distance which modern communications make easy and quick.
